Assignment 1 is already out for semester 4. Very scary. I just don't know but my body will shake when i read the task.

TASK

Design and construct an automatic light dimmer circuit that controls the energy delivered to a 12V or 24V DC light bulb corresponding to the ambient light intensity.

The control of energy should be established through switching action to improve efficiency. Use SCR as means for switching.

Test and document the circuit’s performances.

Anybody that knows what or how to do please give me some idea.

Wesak Day

Wesak Eve.

1000 ++ candles been light up

Miss a lot of events on the eve as my class only ends very late at night.

Went to a lot of temples and pray during the day.

Went for the Wesak Procession during the night. (What an experience)
Went with Chu Kuan, Wen Ping and Kelvin Khor to CRC field. Met quite a few old Frees and friends. The worst is meeting up with Koko Lee and Lim Peng Chew. Phew, still the same as last time.

Well actually the lamp post in the street did the job. Our candles don't help much and one thing for sure, with a clear sky the full moon lighted up the environment.

It's about a pilot's career in Malaysian Airline. A very interesting and assurance article on the safety and regulations tested on the pilots every six month. I guess if i talk more about it, people will just move away from my blog :D, so I will leave it to readers to find out about the safety tested :p

A place where the practical test are done. Its also a place for pilots to do all whatever "approved" stunt moves in there. :)

By the way, according to Human Resource (HR) department, they will stop recruiting any pilots for the time being as the economic does not side them but cadet intakes will be reopen in 2011. Therefore I shall wait till 2011 and I hope i will get in there.

Sem 4

Semester finally starts. Back to busy week again. sob.. sob..

See Mr Chan again... Must go through another bumpy ride. Timetable of the current semester looks not as hectic as last semester. NOTE : "looks not" only.

Keep playing Command and Conquer Generals these few weeks.


Kinda addicted to it even tough its an old game. Shall one day play multiplayer. =) but first must let all the players start to warm up.

PCB workshop

PCB... Printing Circuit Board. What is it??? Open up your PC and look inside. You will find something that looks like below.

So, in the workshop, I'm going to learn how to do that but of course its a simple one. Not as complicated as the above. We decided to call it Running Light but Marcus named it Christmas Light. LOL

The beginning process is quite hard as we need to design and arrange the circuit components and in this case, size of the components matters.

Before getting to do so we are taught how to use the EAGLE software.

After learning how to use, we start to draw the schematic and arrange the components ourselves. Just to do so, it took me a day to get it all done.

After drawing the circuit, components shall be arranged based on your own description. Anywhere you want. So I decided to make a formation since I have Light Emitting Diode (LED). Position and position and position.Fuyoh, can naik gila do so. This is because of my laziness, instead of using the manual routing, I used the auto routing. I'm like dunno how to walk but already want to run.

From the picture above, the blue lines are actually the part where the current will flow. To draw such line is called routing. So auto-routing means let the computer o the work for me la. But!!! its not easy when it comes to routing, the components arrangement will cause a lot of effect on the routing. That's why, it took me a day to design a simple circuit. Hopefully this experience will give me a better planning in the future.

So after design, go and print out using a laser printer and photostat the document onto a transparency and the process starts.

Get to play with all sorts of cutter, all sorts of chemicals mainly Sodium Hydroxide and some acid (I forgotten), get to play with UV light, hand drills and also see a RM35000 water filter. O.o

So after all that long process.........

After that, I must drill holes on the board to insert components into it. There are two type of driller provided.

So which to choose??? Well I chose the Hand held drill. It's easier to be control and a lot easier to aim compared to the big machine but of cos your hand must be super steady either wise there goes your board. Might not be able to use it if its not done properly.

Took me a while to drill the holes and i start soldering.

It felt so good, when your name or initial is printed on it. Click on the image to see the names and initials. =) The best part is our circuit all WORKS.

Got a little bit of problem when soldering it. After that I got the flow and its very easy compared to the verro board.

So after the workshop, I'm still thinking weather to use a verro board or this new PCB knowledge in the future.

OMG... Am i experiencing a deja-vu. Whatever i did on last week repeats all by itself again.

Thank god, Thursday and Friday is not the same. I will be in Inti doing my Printed Circuit Board (PCB) course.

Monday
Played badminton with all my old buddies from Free School. Met many people that were far abroad now i suppose. Spoiled my racket because i clash mine with Marcus's. Fell down in a very interesting way (only some know about it). Listen and talk nonsense in Batu Lancang Market hawker stall, laughed non-stop due to really lots of nonsense.

Tueday
Demonstrated some piano skill to OHM before go jogging in Taman Metropolitan. Also demostrated my flexibility to Joel Lim. Did a few physical training with the help of the facilities provided in the park. QED =D

Wednesday
Went to Inti to take my results. Its a miracle that i passed all subjects.
Could be the last time me seeing my monkeys training takewondo, anc could be my last time training them. Maybe I should open a training center and earn some pocket money.
Went Air Itam Pasar Malam again. They wanted to eat weird food but i just wanted to see more things there. Walked till 11pm where all stalls start to close only we decided to make a move. Visit Joel's Blog for more pictures.
